Help with Food

Nutrition is the foundation of recovery for our rescue dogs. Many arrive unwell, underweight, or malnourished, and each high-quality meal helps them rebuild strength, energy, and health. Your donation keeps our pantry stocked and their bowls full.

  • $15 feeds a medium sized dog for 1 week.
  • $65 provides one puppy with gastrointestinal prescription diet food.
  • $100 stocks our neonatal kit with milk powder and weaning food.

Shade's Second Chance

URGENT DONATIONS REQUIRED When Shade was surrendered to Chance 4 Change, we were told he had no interest in working on the farm. It didn't take long to realise there was likely a reason why. From his very first day with us, it was clear something wasn't right. Shade walked differently, sat differently, and seemed uncomfortable, so we arranged a veterinary appointment. The incredible team at South Wairarapa Veterinary Services confirmed our fears. X-rays revealed severe bilateral hip dysplasia. Despite the severity of his condition, Shade has remained an incredibly stoic boy. He has taken everything in his stride, never letting his pain define his gentle, affectionate nature. Yesterday (30 June), Shade underwent the first of two femoral head ostectomy surgeries. He spent the night at the clinic receiving intravenous fluids, pain relief, and close monitoring as he began his recovery. His first surgery alone will cost more than $2,000, and with a second operation still to come, we desperately need your help. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will go directly towards giving Shade the pain-free future he deserves. Thank you for helping us give this beautiful boy a second chance. Complex Medical Cases

We regularly take in dogs with complex medical needs - including conditions linked to poor breeding, acute illness, chronic health conditions, and trauma. Many of these dogs require extensive veterinary care, ongoing treatment, and specialised support to give them the quality of life they deserve.

We never turn a dog away because of medical costs - but we rely on your support to make this possible.
